Linda Vilka (1995) is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller who has studied Arts in Latvia, Lithuania and the Netherlands. Currently she’s working on her professional Phd in Art Academy of Latvia where she’s developing instructions on how to revive small parishes, villages and forgotten places by using different combinations of participatory art, community art and contemporary art aspects.
In her works Linda Vilka explores memory and how our surroundings affect us, how it changes the way we remember. She expresses her observations by creating installations, under edited videos, actions in a public space, using text and written stories as the main focus of it all. Stories, inspired by childhood, experiences and silent observations are used as a way to secretly express an unexpected longing after a place never longed before - home.
